Roger E. Roberge Obituary
Roger E. Roberge, 90, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed peacefully on January 25, 2020 at the Newton Center in Sanford with his family by his side.
Roger was born on July 3, 1929 in Somersworth, N.H., one of ten children born to Daniel and Lumina (Gagnon) Roberge.
Mr. Roberge was a graduate of Somersworth High School and began a long career at General Electric; working as a meter inspector and retired following 25 years of service to the company.
Roger was a wonderful, loving husband to his wife Frances, who passed away in 2018. Roger and Frances held strong family values and together raised four children.
Roger enjoyed his time at home, working on home renovations and spending time with his family. He had little interest in traveling; especially with having a pool in his backyard to enjoy!
Roger's only pet peeve in life was keeping the dust at bay in the house. Everything had to be in tip top shape and dust free! Roger and Frances believed the kids could share in the house hold chores, beginning early in the morning before they went out to play or over to visit friends. Roger took great pride in his flower gardens and he could be found working with his hand held clippers, keeping the flower beds trimmed and tidy.
Roger suffered from polio as a child and continued treatments into his teens thru the Shriners Hospital. Roger never let the effects from having polio get in the way of working and providing for his family.
He is survived by two sons, Dennis Roberge and wife Joanne of Winter Haven, Florida and Andre Roberge of Sanford; two daughters, Kathleen Soucy and husband James of Sanford and Barbara Goodwin of North Berwick. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, all services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, and with the wonderful care provided to Roger as a young boy with polio, please consider donating to the Shriners Hospital (Orthopedic Unit) 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 0110-2396.
The Autumn Green Funeral Home is respectfully handling arrangements.
