It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Douglas Hartley in Scarborough, Maine, who passed away on July 14, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

“I am deeply saddened by the loss of Douglas. He was a close and beloved and admired friend for the last 45 years. I was to see him this past June in DC and still have a message from him about rescheduling. He still feels so present in my life. We traveled together, had many, many dinners and supported each other in so many ways. I always told Douglas I wanted to be like him when I grew up - only, finally, to realize I had grown up and was never going to be like him! He had such zest! X K”
