He was predeceased by : his parents, David MacVane, Jr. (Bunk) and Constance MacVane (Enos). He is survived by : his wife Melissa; his son Naval Petty Officer 3rd; his stepsons, Travis Conner, Cameron Conner and Noah Blake; and his siblings, Robert MacVane, Ann MacVane and Laurie Boody. He is also survived by many friends, cousins, nieces, and a nephew.

“Wishing you peace. Dave and I served on the USS Iwo Jima together in Radio. He was a gentleman, humorous, and dedicated to his work. We had a lot in common, as both of our fathers were lobstermen and we were both from New England. Dave will be greatly missed by all of those he touched. I wish his family great comfort, solace and peace. I know Dave is in heaven ‘spitting nickels’. We got the watch, Sailor. Fair winds and following seas.”
