He was predeceased by: his parents, George Helwig and Mildred Helwig (Kerl). He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Helwig of Sweden; his children, Darren, Julie Helwig of Hamden, Heather Helwig, Robert Quint of Preston, CT., Lindsay and Rob Knapp of Fryeburg; and his sisters, Violet Tates, Joanne Sisti, Sharon Helwig and Arlene Buck. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers grumpy requests donations be made in his name to Shriners Hospital or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
