He was predeceased by : his wife Millie; and his siblings, Kenny, Danny, Stewart, Sue, June, Marsha and Marilyn.

He is survived by : his children, James Benner, Jr. (Theresa), Timothy Benner, Angela Benner (Scott Hoffses) and David Benner (Paul Ward); his brothers, Merrill Benner of Waldoboro and Paul Benner of Waldoboro; and his pet Opie. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.
