He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor Shanning and Mildred McDonald (Tirrell); his siblings, Donald McDonald, Sharon Pond and Donna Knightly; and his pet Baxter.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Shanning; his children, Jennifer Mayhan (John) and Harold Shanning, Jr. (Shannon); his granddaughters, Nicole Mayhan and Anna Shanning; his sister Marilyn Newman; his brothers-in-law, Richard Pond and Fred Knightly; and his friend Bruce Butler. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
