He was predeceased by: his parents, John Virgil and Lois Irene Hanks (Cummings); and his son Charles Hanks. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Hanks; his children, Alvin Hanks, Lois Lunn, Terri Raymond, Shelley Hanks-Hokari, Linda Smiley, Guy Hanks Jr., Robin Larosa and Julie Rae; his sisters, Nancy Vollman, Irene Holder and Judy Parker; his siblings-in-law, Doris Hanks, Jean Hanks and Charles Parker; and his close friends, Paul Turner and Roland Perry. He is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
