He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank McDonald and Thelma McDonald (Winslow); his wife Dottie of Livermore Falls; his son Vernon, Jr.; his sister Muriel Tripp (Lawrence); his sisters-in-law, Gloria Korhonen (Richard) and Anita Adams; his brothers, Alvin, Doug (Barbara), Olin (Anita), Carroll and Clovis McDonald; and his brother-in-law Val Nichols (Betty).
He is survived by: his children, Shawn McDonald (Gale) of Jay, Kim Brown (Brad) of Farmingdale and Dawn Brann of Oakland; his grandchildren, Andrew McDonald, Karlye McDonald, Erin Ridley, Katelyn Fulton, Julie James, Jennifer Geller and Jeffrey Brann; his brother Brent McDonald (Patricia) of Jay; and his siblings-in-law, Paul Adams, Kitty McDonald of Wilton, Peggy McDonald of Jay and Vicki McDonald of Jay. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
