He is survived by: his wife Joann Merritt; his children, Andrew (Maggie) and Nora (Roberto); and his grandchildren, Jack, Leila and Finn.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Peter's memory to the Harpswell Heritage Land Trust or the Maine Maritime Museum.
