We are sad to announce that on November 7, 2020, at the age of 96, Robert E. Butler Sr. of York, Maine, born in Salem, Massachusetts passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Calvin David Butler and Dora Ramsdell Butler; his wife Gertrude McFarland of Bar Harbor; his son-in-law Ronald E. Avery; his brother Kenneth Butler; his aunt Marian; his uncle Pennell Worcester; and his siblings-in-law, Linda Palfrey, Adelma Richardson, Statie Foster and Chauncey McFarland Jr..

He is survived by : his children, Robert, Jr. (Delight), Wanda-Lee Avery and David (Crystal); his granddaughter Gertrude; his great grandchildren, Calvin Butler (Kathy), Lloyd Butler (Julie), Carissa (Liam Quinlan), Ronald Avery, Jr. (Elizabeth), Brandon Avery (Johnna) and Ryan Avery; his sister-in-law Helena Butler of Portsmouth; his nephew Kenneth; his niece Robin; his cousin Pennell Worcester of Naples; his nieces and nephews, Julia Crafts, Linda Olsen, James, Chauncey McFarland and Kevin Foster; and also, Braden, Brynn, Simon, Robin, Marshall, Preston, Lincoln, Daphne, Tobin, Nya, Ronin, Myles, Della, Melissa, Rebekkah, Tatum, Eli, Jared Avery (Angela), Owen, Addisyn, Quinn, Nicholas Butler (Tiffany), Tyler, Eleanor and Jessica (Adam Alexander).

Due to COVID-19, private funeral services will be held at the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home on Sunday, November 15, at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made towards a scholarship fund.
