It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Eugene Gainey of Adrian, Michigan, born in Laurel Hill, North Carolina, who passed away on December 26, 2023, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Thomas and Dollie Mae Gainey (Watson); and his son-in-law Robert A. Waters, Jr.. He is survived by : his children, Jeanette Waters (Kenneth Mcavoy) of Hudson, FL, Jeffrey Gainey of Zephyr Hills, FL and Jill Murphy (Darrell) of St. Augustine, FL; his sisters, Christine Moremen of Raleigh, NC and Joann Godwin (Richard) of Adrian; and his grandchildren, Paula Sue Waters, Elizabeth Ann Waters, Amanda Jo Wells (Peter), Jeffrey Gainey, Anthony Gainey (Katie), Alec Gainey (Diamond), Douglas Hochstetler (Brittany), David Hochstetler (Kat), Andrew Hochstetler (Katie) and Anna Reyes. He is also survived by 21 great grandchildren.
