He was predeceased by: his parents, Merlin Ely and Mearl Ely (Hall); his siblings, Dennis Ely, Lyle Ely, Deb Oswald and Trudy Ely; and his brothers-in-law, Larry Shay and Danny Oswald.
He is survived by: his children, Racheal Schneider (Fred), Charles "Chuck" Ely (Angie), Paula Martin (Wayne) and Chad Ely; and his siblings, Ben Ely and Judy Shay. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home – Adrian (3050 W Beecher Rd, Adrian, MI 49221). A memorial service was held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the same location.
