He is survived by: his wife Cristie; his children, Andy Van Valkenburg (Kerri), Trevor Van Valkenburg (Kathryn), Richard Shepherd and Christy Minzey (Jerry); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Hayden, Matthew, Jerry, Miranda, Noah and Dominic; his great grandchildren, Audrey, Bo, Everly and Ava; and his siblings, Roy Crooks and Vickie Zolman.
