He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Jacob and Thora Arlene Lowery (Sadler); and his siblings, Marciel Woodruff Vargo-Mitchell, Nancy Ford, Deanna Bunker and Max Lowery.
He is survived by: his wife Kathy; his sisters, Judy Feutz (Woodruff) of Grand Rapids and Janet Rewald of Boyne City; his children, Jill Villarreal (Oscar) and Samuel "Sammy" Lowery (Tracy Brazier); his grandchildren, Heather Sanders (Stephen), Sargeant Allen Rockwell (Melissa Sanchez), Michael Rockwell, Ian Lowery and Lieutenant Samuel Lowery; and his great grandchildren, Avery, Carson, Brian and Samuel Sanders (Sammy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 28th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Alanson Church of the Nazarene (7489 Mission Rd, Alanson, MI 49706). A funeral service was held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sam's memory may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, a cause close to the family's heart.
