He was predeceased by: his parents, David S. Swathwood and Eva R. Swathwood (Shepard); his wife Betty Jean Janecke; his grandfather Hoagie; and his siblings-in-law, Donald Janecke, John Janecke, Paul Janecke, Nancy Tepolt and Linda Janecke.
He is survived by: his children, David Swathwood (Cathy) of Columbus, Daniel Swathwood (Susan) of Louisville, Denise Longtin of Mesa, Debra Roubal (Gary) of Saline, Teresa Trubac (Daniel) of Las Vegas and Jeanette Russell (Donald) of Revenna; his grandchildren, Christina Swathwood, Chris Swathwood (Cammie), Kyle Swathwood, Cara Keup (Aaron), Karen Ferguson (Ian), Jenna Szpara (David), Danielle Trubac, Jeremy Russell (Jennette), Alex Trubac (Faith) and Samantha Bodell (Steven); his great grandchildren, Ava, Calah, Leviticus Keup, Ashton Swathwood, Paul, Benjamin Szpara, Emma, Eric, Malachi Bodell, Connor and Alexia Russell; and his siblings-in-law, Robert Janecke, Patricia Bodell (Raymond), Susan Janecke, Linda Crites (Barry) and Elizabeth Janecke.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 10th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Albion (100 Luther Blvd, Albion, MI 49224). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 10th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
