He was predeceased by: his parents, Erdman Newman and Hazel Newman (Romm); his wife Dorothy Newman (Vaughn); and his siblings, Carl Newman (Sonny), Erdman Newman, Alvin Newman (Red), Bernice Marino (Bill), Leona Flynn (Thom) and Dorcus Klinkle (Mike).
He is survived by: his children, Paul Newman (Ellen Lazarus) and Leslie Hale (Jeffrey); his grandchildren, Sarah Newman, Catherine Newman, Michael Newman, Nathan Hale and Brandon Hale; his close friend Tammy Lebron; his grandson Isaiah; his son-in-law Jeff; and his niece Denise Thacker. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Riverside Cemetery (1301 S Superior St, Albion, MI 49224). The military honors will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paul's memory to the American Legion Post 55.
