He was predeceased by : his parents, Hermann F. Christoph and Erika Christoph (Janke). He is survived by : his wife Marsha; his children, Margaret Christoph MacDonald and David Swader (Pam); his sister Elfriede Mottin (Howard); and his grandchildren, Sophia Swader and Connor MacDonald. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Living Faith Lutheran Church, Marine City.
