He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter and Yulah; and his siblings, Gwen Jonik (Hank) and Fred (Diana). He is survived by: his wife Ruth Van Simaeys; his sons, Timothy (Karen), Patrick (Layla) and Thomas (Shauna); his stepchildren, Michael Wehby (Sue), Dan Wehby (Laurie) and Kristen Cupp (Terry); his great grandchildren, Kyle (Emma), Karli (Bryce), Patrick Sullivan, Giuliana, Alessandro, Gabriella, Kaden, Teagan, Madden, Ryan (Liz), Megan, Jessie (John), Daniel, Matt, Allison, Paulina, John, Cliff and Lillian; and his siblings, Chris Bonkowski (Ron) and Penny Kindt (Don).
In Lieu of flowers, Chief Van Simaeys asked that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
