He was predeceased by: his parents, Hans Boelk and Johanna Boelk (Huiskes); and his wife Cynthia Boelk. He is survived by: his children, Richard Boelk (Nicole) and Katherine Courtney (Chris); his grandchildren, Jaxon Boelk, Nevaeh Boelk, Adam Ducharme, Jacob Courtney and Brendan Courtney (Taylor); his great grandchild Garrett Courtney; and his sisters, Ute Lemieux, Barbara Ashby, Christel Roselle and Doris Schuster. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
