She was predeceased by: her parents, Maurice V. Deering and Verna Deering (Vincent); her husband Bernard J. Ockert; her siblings, Ione Hunt (James) and Maurice "Sonny" Deering (Margie); her son-in-law Jeffery Stroven; and her nephew Brian Hunt.
She is survived by: her children, Neil Steven Nelson (Anne), Carl A. Ockert (Rene' Gilbert) and Kathleen V. Stroven; her granddaughter Meghan Elsea (Joshua); and her great grandchildren, Bee, Jake and Marissa Elsea.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Smith Family Funeral Homes (117 N East St, St. Louis, MI 48880).
