He is survived by: his parents, Robert Bates and Sandra Bates; his brothers, Stewart Bates (Donna) and Aaron Bates (Sharon); his nieces and nephews, Jasen and Cassie; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Domenic, Luca, Elijah and Gabriel; and his goddaughter Rachel.
