He was predeceased by: his parents, John Cockerell and Cora Cockerell (Thornton); his siblings, Betty Jane Cockerell, Lillian Isham, Minnie Homan, Dorothey Blackmer and Bonnie Runyun; and his adoptive son Robin Cockerell.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Skoczylas; his daughters, April Shaw (Chris), Christine Barajas (Jose), Sherri Hunt and Julie Clark (Jim); his stepsons, Michel Vannest and David Vannest; and his sister Jessie Roberts of Kalamazoo. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.
