He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Allen and Ruby Allen (Graves); his parents-in-law, George Whitcraft and Gertrude Mann; his brothers, Fred Allen and Neil Allen; his siblings-in-law, Sharon Allen, Lyle Patterson and Doloris Jones; and his grandson Cory Griner.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Allen; his children, Douglas Allen (Laura), Kimberly McElfish (Larry) and Scott Allen (Jeanne); his siblings, Dorothy Findsen (Paul), Mary Sjoquist, Fran Wixom (Louis), David Allen, Brenda Gott and Cathy Towery; his sisters-in-law, Linda Allen, Phyllis Cooper, Margaret Patterson, Alaine Shock (Vernell) and Betsy Gowen (Jim); and his close friend Wayne Miller. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-granddaughter.
