She was predeceased by: her father Arnold Christensen; her husband Arnold Wirgau (Bud); her sons-in-law, John Joslin and Joe Tunnicliffe; her grandson Kyle Wirgau; and her siblings, Guy Christensen (Judy) and Bertie Lou Miller (Harold).
She is survived by: her mother Alice Christensen (Mielke); her children, Penny Hogan (Dan), Neil Wirgau (Melody), Mary Lou Tunnicliffe, Mark Wirgau, LuAnn Sills (Joe), Karen Wirgau, Sharon Fritz (David) and Amy Goodson; and her grandchildren, Joel (Sarah), Jill (Dan), Joshua (Ana), Jacob (Allegra), Matthew (Jean), Rebekah (Rob), Loren (Nicole), Ryan (Johnna), Tom (Sulyn), Kari (Wade), Jesse, Melissa (Bobby), Jennifer, Amanda, Christina (Richard), Elizabeth, Travis (Corinne), Derek (Kristin) and Sarah (Kurtis). She is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren with one on the way and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the McWilliams Funeral Home (504 W Washington Ave, Alpena, MI 49707). Visitation was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Leer Lutheran Church (10430 Leer Rd, Posen, MI 49776). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Leer Lutheran Church or Leer Heritage Foundation.
