He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton Cates and Blanche Cates (Taylor). He is survived by: his wife Karen Newton; his daughters, Kris, Kathy and Karrie; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Clayton and Javin; and his great grandchildren, Aubri, Braylen and Andrew. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
