He was predeceased by: his father William Olsen; his stepfather Guarden "Joe" Smith; and his sister Mary Olsen. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Olsen; his mother Vergeline Smith; his stepchildren, Tracy and Eric Olson; his stepgrandchildren, Aaden Olson, Georgia and Mila Mindykowski; and his siblings, Joyce Langerfeld (Kevin), Rose Ann Olsen, Dean Olsen, David Smith (Anne Marie) and Yvonne Isherwood (Robert). He is also survived by extended family including his mother- in-law, many brothers in law and sisters in law, along with many special nieces and nephews.
