He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Floyd Yates and Lorena Sturgill Yates; and his brothers, Robert, Donald and Alex.
He is survived by: his brother Jefferey Yates; his wife Joann Kay Yates; his stepchildren, Michael Alan Harder and Dawn Marie Helsel (Mark); his grandchildren, Nichole Harder of Germany, Benjamin Schultz, Isaac Schultz, Logan Garrett, Morgan Redloske (Keegan) and Katelyn Helsel; and his great grandchild Hadley Redloske.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Saturday, January 17th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 17th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Whitneyville Bible Church (8655 Whitneyville Ave SE, Alto, MI 49302).
