She was predeceased by: her parents, Dr. Mathew Alpern and Rebecca Elsner Alpern; and her brother Bowen Alpern. She is survived by: her husband John E. Laird; her siblings, Barbara Alpern and Aaron Alpern; her daughters, Emily Laird Bilek (Eli Bilek), Jessica Alpern Laird (Philip Shiu) and Valerie Alpern Laird; and her grandchildren, Benjamin Laird Bilek, Julie Alpern Bilek, Hazel Shiu Laird and Violet Laird Shiu.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 12:00 PM at 2000 Washtenaw Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. For information about Shiva, please contact the family.
