With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Matthew LeRoy Nelson in Ann Arbor, Michigan, born in Lansing, Michigan, who passed away on December 7, 2025 at the age of 52. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his mother Paula Penhorwood Nelson; and his grandparents, Roy, Irene Nelson, Charles and Joyce Penhorwood.
He is survived by: his wife Suzalyn; his children, Chelsea Smith, Dominique Sumerix (Zach Spagnuolo), Justin Nelson, Lucas Nelson, Marcus Nelson and Brianna Banfield; his father LeRoy Nelson; his sisters, Amanda Canfield (Scott) and Jennifer Yauney (John); his nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Smith, Will Smith, Andrew Cook (Karli), Jennifer Smith (Tyler), Evelyn Canfield and Sophia Canfield; and his close friends, Brad Butcher and Jodi Dekett "Work Wife".
