He was predeceased by: his son James David Johnson; his great grandchild Everett Johnson; and his brother William Marshall Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Norma Maxine (McGinnis); his children, John Marshall Johnson (Paula), Paul Clayton Johnson (Lela Diane), Lucille Ruth Erickson (Brian) and Mark Samuel Johnson (Esther); and his sister Evelyn Louise Lenaz. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made out to Norma Johnson, all proceeds to be used to further Samuel's ongoing missionary projects.
