He was predeceased by: his mothers, Betty Berry Hayes and Cindy Hayes; his in-laws, Bill and Hope Billmeier; his niece Tracy Russom Lamberjack; and his son-in-law Nicholas Harrod.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Hayes; his children, Miles Hayes (Shannon Martin) and Sarah Harrod; his grandchildren, Noah, Natalie Harrod, Zoey and Louis Hayes; his siblings, Nancy Miller (Paul), Tom Hayes (Mary Ann), Cynthia Lahner (Rick Wood) and Amy Maris (Rich); and his brothers-in-law, Marshall Freeman and Steve Billmeier (Darlene Frederick).
Visitation was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Monday, August 31st 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Knox Presbyterian Church (2065 S Wagner Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48103).
