She was predeceased by : her parents, James Mathewson and Clara Mathewson (Thomas); her husband Kenneth Sype; her siblings, Grace Hicks, Cecil Mathewson, Edward Mathewson, Edmund Mathewson, Emerson Mathewson and Leon Mathewson; and her grandson Jesse Sype.

She is survived by : her sons, Kenneth Otto Sype (Jane), Edward Richard Sype (Mary) and James Calvin Sype (Juliane). She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
