He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Whelan and Mildred Whelan (Black); his in-laws, Ken and Jean Butler; and his nephew Ryan Whelan.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Whelan; his siblings, Judy Reinbold of Pennsylvania, Robert J. Whelan, Sr. (Diane) of Brentwood and James Whelan (Kathy) of Mattawan; and his brothers-in-law, Kenneth Butler (Stacey) of Fennville and John Butler (Nancy). He is also survived by nieces & nephews; and many many great and great-great nieces & nephews.
