He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Saunders and Irene Saunders (Strauser); his brother Steve Saunders; and his brother-in-law Kevin McGrath. He is survived by: his wife Joy; his children, Mark Saunders, Tammy Cannon (Trevis), Thomas Saunders and Cheryl Grigg (Kris); his grandchild Michala; his children, Nick, Monica, Katelyn, Angela, Alex, Rebecca, Jacquelynn, Madison, Zachary, Kenny and Wesley; his sisters, Donna McGrath, Marci Schalau (Walt) and Lori Woods (Andy); and his sister-in-law Pam Saunders. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, January 15th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church (90 Millville Rd, Lapeer, MI 48446). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Great Lakes National Cemetery (4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI 48442). The military honors will be held on Tuesday, May 26th 2026 from 10:35 AM to 10:55 AM and at 11:00 AM at the same location.
