Richard Erndt Obituary
Richard "Dick" Erndt, age 79, of Auburn, Michigan, passed away on August 1, 2026, at his residence. He was born on September 6, 1946, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Joseph and Rose (Garbowski) Erndt.
Dick lived a life marked by hard work, good humor, and a genuine love for people. He was known as a spirited, friendly, and handy man who could always be counted on to lend a hand or share a conversation. Throughout his life, he worked at several businesses as a mechanic, including General Motors, where his skill and dedication were appreciated by those who worked alongside him. He for 20 years owned and operator of the Crump Pump Bar in Crump, Michigan, where he enjoyed the social atmosphere and the many friendships he made over the years.
Dick took great pride in his family and treasured the time he spent with those he loved. He is survived by his two sons, Richard Erndt and Matthew Erndt, and his wife Mary Ann. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Natasha Meyette, Mathew Erndt and Erica, Lace Erndt, Amanda Erndt and Greg, Michael Erndt, Zachary Erndt and Hannah, and Jacob Erndt, step granddaughter Summer (Tyler). Kowalski along with several great-grandchildren who brought him much joy. He is also survived by his siblings, David Erndt and his wife Jamie, Terry Erndt and his wife Cristina, and Gloria Knotts and her husband Don.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sally Vance, and his brother, Dale Erndt. Their memories remained a part of his life, and he carried his family connection with him always.
Richard enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life meaningful to him. He liked playing euchre, going to the casino, fishing on the Great Lakes, attending the racetrack for races, and hunting. More than anything, he loved being social and spending time with family and friends. His presence brought energy and warmth to gatherings, and he will be remembered for the many conversations, laughs, and memories shared with those around him.
Those who knew Dick will remember a man who was dependable, outgoing, and full of life. He approached each day with a practical spirit and a friendly nature, and he left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on through his family, his friendships, and the many lives he touched over the years.
