He was predeceased by : his father Alexander Burkhard; his son Mark Burkhard (Donna Burkhard); and his siblings, Edwin, Leslie, Delbert, Robert, Roland Harold, Harley Burkhard, Emily Smith and Elaine LaBelle.

He is survived by : his sister Beverly Forstner of Durand; and his sisters-in-law, Betty Burkhard of Bad Axe, Dorothy Burkhard of Harbor Beach and Grace Burkhard of Lansing. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials are asked to be given to Zion Lutheran Church.
