He was predeceased by: his parents, Caroline Smith and Arthur Smith; his sister-in-law Judy Smith; and his stepson Bryan Smith. He is survived by: his children, Michael P. Smith (Kimberly Clark) of Filion and Carrie Koglin (Eric) of Port Hope; his wife Elizabeth Smith of Bad Axe; his stepsons, Dennis Smith (Rachel) of Grand Blanc and Michael D. Smith of Harbor Beach; his brothers, Robert Smith of Kingston, Mark Smith of Pigeon and Loy Smith (Debra) of Florida; and his grandchildren, Sean (Samantha), Caleb (Kaylynn), Bentley, Charlotte, Ethan, Chandler and Berkleigh. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the MacAlpine Funeral Home (302 N Hanselman St, Bad Axe, MI 48413). A memorial service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
