She was predeceased by: her parents, Leslie LaFernier and Mildred LaFernier (Forcia); her husband Robert Velmer of Ann's Church; her daughter Kimberly Velmer Fortier; and her siblings, James, Melvin, Stanley LaFernier and Carol Hamm.
She is survived by: her son Michael Velmer (Jacquelyn) of L'Anse; her son-in-law Cyril "Joe" Fortier; her sister Helen Tollefson of Skanee; her grandchildren, Kyle LaPlante, Tyler LaPlante (Faith), Joel Fortier (Abby), Michaela Raiger (Louis), Jessica, Daniel, Rachael and Zachary Velmer; and her great grandchildren, Lilianna, Kylee, Titan, Madison, Braylin and Noah.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Calendar Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (16 6th St, L'Anse, MI 49946). A rosary was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 at 10:40 AM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Calendar Assinins Cemetery.
