He was predeceased by: his parents, James Dickinson and Norma Dickinson (Backus); his wife Marie Freehling; his granddaughter Heather Reitz; and his siblings, Barb Draper, Jim, John and William Dickinson.

He is survived by: his daughters, Debra Brockway (Roger) and Bonnie Reitz (Brad); his grandchildren, Christina Morgan (Jim), Joe Brockway and John Reitz; and his sisters, Lenora "Rocky" Lynch and Rosemary Hogan. He is also survived by five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
