Bruce J. Meinke Sr. Obituary

Bruce John Meinke Sr., age 88, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on August 8, 2026, at the VA Medical Center in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Bruce was born on March 13, 1938, in Battle Creek, the son of the late Walter and Wilma (Sandy) Meinke. In 1956, he joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country until his discharge in 1958.

Bruce spent many years serving his community. He worked as a police officer for the Battle Creek Police Department and later at the VA Medical Center in Battle Creek. He also worked for Grand Trunk Railroad where he remained until his retirement.

In 1959, Bruce married Rosemary Feld. They Shared many years together until her passing in 2007.

In his free time, Bruce enjoyed classic cars, playing bingo and trips to the casino. These were some of his favorite ways to spend his time and brought him many years of enjoyment.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Kathleen Meinke; sons, Bruce J. Meinke Jr., and David Meinke; daughter, Linda Meinke; stepdaughter, Christine Riege; stepson, David Daker; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and his sister, Suzanne LeJeune.

He was also preceded in passing by daughters, Brenda Meinke and Teresa Burchard; brothers, Walter Meinke Jr and Lee Meinke.

Bruce lived a life of service and dedication- to his country, his community and his family. He will be remembered for the life he built, the many years he devoted to his work and those around him, and the memories he created with his family and friends. Bruce will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
