We bid farewell to Daniel L. Messenger of Battle Creek, Michigan, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on July 23, 2025 at the age of 87. Daniel touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Burton H. Messenger and Grace A. Messenger (Henry); his wife Joan K. McCann; his stepfather Clarence Schuckman; his siblings, James Messenger and Judy Mackinder; his siblings-in-law, Dick Mackinder, Robert McCann, Karen Messenger and Janet Bonner (McCann); and his daughter Cynthia Campbell (Messenger).
He is survived by: his sons, Brad Messenger, Bret Messenger and Glen Messenger (Eden); his grandchildren, Sara, Katie Messenger, Benjamin, Nicholas Campbell, Lindsay Halsey and Hendrix Messenger; his siblings, Jerry Messenger and Della McClain; his siblings-in-law, Leslie Messenger and Mike McCann (Linda); his siblings' children, Kathy Barnhart (Al), Robert Bonner and Karey Unversaw; and his close friends, Patty Case, John Hanson, Reid, Kay Whicker, Dewey Haskins, John VanDorsten and Elmer Wolf. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care (105 Capital Ave NE, Battle Creek, MI 49017). A burial was held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Fort Custer National Cemetery (15501 W Dickman Rd, Augusta, MI 49012). The military honors was held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at the same location.
