James Stewart Messner Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Stewart Messner of Battle Creek, Michigan, who passed away on April 4, 2022, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Freed Messner and Adah Messner (Stewart); his former wife Shirley Messner; his wife Pauline Messner; and his son Anthony "Tony" Messner.
He is survived by: his daughter Liz Askew (Jeff); his grandchildren, Carl Askew and Mandy Hinton (Joe); his great grandchildren, Julian Lankard (Vashti), Hunter Lankard (Lacee) and Taylor Case; his brother Freed "Fritz" Messner (Janice); and his stepchildren, Ginny Uptgraft, Carl Censke, Tom Censke (Judy), Mike Censke, Dave Censke (Gina) and Deb Censke. He is also survived by several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.
