He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Kerns Sr. and Nelda Kerns (Umphrey); and his siblings, Robert Kerns Jr., Barbara Fairbanks and Sally Hansen.
He is survived by: his girlfriend Tina Ashley; his brother Tom Kerns (Sandy) of Bellevue, MI; and his stepsons, Chad Schenkelberger (Sarah) of Traverse City, MI and David Schenkelberger (Qwen) of West Bloomfield, MI. He is also survived by five step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flower donations may be made to the local Humane Society.
