“I worked with Dr. Hughes at Community Hospital in Battle Creek for a number of years in the 1980's. He was not only excellent as a neurosurgeon. He was a real physician, in the old-school kind of way, even-tempered, mature, and a team-builder. He was an role model in my life. Often, when I'm faced with a challenge, I remember him saying to me, "well, I'm not always right, but I'm never unsure..." I am so sorry to learn of his passing.”
