He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Shepherd and Roberta Addie Monroe (Taylor); his parents-in-law, Donald and Mary Hyslop; his brother Howard Shepherd Monroe, Jr.; and his sister-in-law Linda Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Marcy Charvat (Mike), Donald Monroe (Tracy) and Katie Bivens; his grandchildren, Carson, Gavin (Alivia), Gabrielle, Payton (Andrew), Emma, Cooper, Brody, Monroe and Kingston; and his siblings, Bob Monroe (Jean), Bill Monroe (Sherry), Tom Monroe (Pam), Susan Fentress (Bob), Julie Lantz (Gary) and Cathy Cook (Jerry). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service (375 W Dickman Rd, Battle Creek, MI 49037). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Fort Custer National Cemetery (49012 W Dickman Rd, Augusta, MI).
Memorials may be made to Pennfield Presbyterian Church or Eastwood Little League.
