With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Michelle Cowan (Battle Creek, Michigan), born in Tacoma, Washington, who passed away on October 31, 2025 at the age of 67. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As we bid Michelle farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Michelle is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.

She was predeceased by: her brothers, Billy Griffin, Johnny Griffin, Morris Griffin of Georgia and L. G. "Luke" Smith of Helena, Montana; and her son Jonathan.

She is survived by: her siblings, Connie Strickland of South Carolina, Tina Sigourney (Andrew) of Battle Creek, Michigan, Webb Smith of Bend and Forest T. Smith III. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society or Companion Cats, causes close to her heart.
