He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Raymond and Vola Elizabeth Kerr (King); and his brothers, Frank Kerr and Jack Kerr. He is survived by: his children, Kimberly Thayer (Shannon) of Battle Creek, Robert Kerr (Brenda) of Ann Arbor and Ken Kerr (Andrea) of Tekonsha; his grandchildren, Mitchell Heikkila, Sahara Basye (Jacob), Brooke Lindeman (Douglas), Eric Heikkila, Hunter Thayer (Zoë), Rachael Kerr, Cassidy Kerr and Robin Kerr; his great grandchildren, Jack Basye, Henrik Lindeman, Owen Basye, Henry Basye and Elizabeth Lindeman; and his sister Elizabeth Mondoux of Caledonia, MI. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
