He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald Shepard and Helen Shepard (Brown); his stepson David Reed Stout; and his grandson Brandon Tyler Harris. He is survived by: his wife Dolores; his children, Steve Shepard Jr. of Shelbyville, Julie Wilber (John) of Plainwell, Jodi Shepard of Delton and Alesha Stout of Battle Creek; his grandchildren, Emily Wilber, Dean, Andrea, Jacob Harris, Hannah, Reed Stout, Austin and Alexandria Young; his great grandchildren, Mason, Peyton Hamlin, Brooklyn Whitaker and Elliot Harris; and his sister Linda McIlory (Hal) of Cave Creek, AZ. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins.
