He was predeceased by: his parents, Ora Smith and Margaret Smith (Tennyson); his wife Bessie Mae; his son David Smith; his parents-in-law, Andrew Taylor and Lucile Taylor-Webster; his siblings, Clinton Smith, Marshall Smith and Leora Cavendar; and his siblings-in-law, Robert Taylor, Carolyn Taylor and Gloria Taylor.
He is survived by: his daughters, Debra Todak (Larry) and Kathryn Powell (Mark); his daughter-in-law Marci Smith (Rod Eberhard) of Battle Creek; and his siblings-in-law, Gerald Taylor of Ludington, MI and Barbara Smith of Battle Creek. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
