He was predeceased by: his parents, Berry Steven and Vera Knight (Morgan); his wife Stella Louise DeVault; his great grandchild Brandi Bailee McCowan; his brother Don; and his half-sisters, Thelma and Ruby.

He is survived by: his children, Martha Lou Engle and Steve Knight (JoAnn); his grandchildren, Tedd Engle, Stephanie Lyons (Chad), Leslie Nabozny (Mark), Nicholas Hannar, Ashley Wendland (Kyle Ferris), Cody Knight (Kim) and Rindy Handy (Brad); his great grandchildren, Jackie Engle (Justin Jones), Jordan Gebben, Jacob Lyons, Justin Lyons, Justine McCowan (Adam Farrah), Tyler Nabozny (Sydney), Mason Nabozny, Lillie Smith, Izzie Wendland, Lincoln Wendland, Katie Knight, Ben Knight, Caroline Knight, Neia Handy and Gideon Handy; and his great great grandchildren, Summer, Cameron Bhola and Navy Farrah.
